Success Stories of Clients – Maida Poljarević
Maida, originally from Herzegovina, came to Jablanica after getting married, where she began a new chapter of her life. Life’s struggles and the need to provide for her family led her to pursue agriculture – first by planting strawberries, and later potatoes and onions.
Step by step, Maida built her small family business. The first strawberries soon found their way to satisfied customers, and over time she expanded her production to other crops. Today, she grows only what she can produce and offer in high quality. Interestingly, she does not sell her products at the market. Instead, she delivers them directly to customers. In this way, she maintains a close relationship with people who appreciate homegrown, healthy, and lovingly produced fruits and vegetables.
Her greatest accomplishment, she says, is her family. Her husband and sons are her biggest support, and together they face all challenges, both moral and physical.
The path to success was not without obstacles, but Maida points out that with the support of a loan from the Microcredit Foundation EKI, she managed to overcome many difficulties and improve her production. Today, as she proudly looks over her fields, she dreams new dreams – rural tourism that would combine nature, homemade food, and her family’s hospitality.
Maida has a simple but powerful piece of advice for everyone starting out in agriculture or any business: be hardworking, persistent, and believe in yourself. That way, success will surely follow.
