Success Stories of EKI Clients – Behija Hukić

Behija Hukić from the small village of Rašinovac, in the rural part of the municipality of Bosanski Petrovac, has been engaged in greenhouse vegetable production for many years. She mainly produces tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and parsley. Mrs. Behija and her husband came up with the idea of engaging in agriculture precisely because the area where they live is suitable for agriculture and it is highly represented there.

They started with two greenhouses they received as incentives from the municipality, along with seedlings, guaranteed purchase, and adequate training. That was enough for a good start. Already the next year, they were ready to expand their capacities, for which they needed additional funds. That's when the collaboration between Mrs. Hukić and EKI began. Today, after two cycles of financing from EKI, from the initial two greenhouses, the Hukić household has six greenhouses, with a total area of 100 square meters.

Mrs. Hukić is assisted in her work by her husband and daughters, according to their available time, as her husband is employed, and her daughters are students. She mostly does the work herself.

A facilitating factor for them is that they have a secure placement in nearby stores and with individuals, as their products are recognized as high quality.

It is precisely the quality of the products, dedication to work, hard work, but also great love for it, that Mrs. Behija considers the key to success.
